Sarasgad

Sarasgad is near Pali village, off Mumbai - Goa highway. While travelling on the highway, take the left from a junction little ahead of Nagothane. About 8 kms inside is Pali. The road further ahead takes one to Khopoli. (ie. from Mumbai, one can reach Pali, via Khopoli as well).

Sarasgad fort is at a height of 1400 ft. On top is a vast expense of dilapidated fort, caves used for storing food and water. Except for a few steep rocky patches (which can be dangerous during rains), the climb is relatively easy. There is also an easy access, with steps carved on rocks right from the bottom.

To the southeast of the peak is the wall of telbaila, a series of small peaks, which are often used for mountaineering training and camps.

Not much of historic information is available about this fort
